Companies Registration & Intellectual Property Center

The Companies Registrations and Intellectual Property Center (CRIPC) was established in 2025 as a statutory agency and successor institution to the former Department of the Registrar General under the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.

Our mandate is to maintain and administer registries for companies, businesses, registered trusts, movable collateral, and intellectual property rights.In this regard, We promote and facilitate the formalization of businesses, as well as the protection, creation, promotion, and commercialization of intellectual property in Malawi.

Our Leadership

CRIPC falls under the policy guidance of the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.It is governed by a Board appointed by the Minister and is headed by the Registrar General who is its Chief Executive Officer.Below is the administrative structure of CRIPC.

Improvement of registration, storage, retrieval, management and dissemination of information through the use of modern automated database solutions.

Promoting and supporting the harmonization of domestic and international law, procedure and practice in order to enhance participation in global trade markets and attract foreign direct investment and technology inflows into the country.

Promote the awareness and utilization of, as well as respect for Industrial Property Rights in order to stimulate technological innovation and development and enhance Malawian industry and commerce through the implementation of National IP Policy.
